The Alignment of Forces Ritual is something I devised to sync up all the elemental and celestial forces under the angels and spirits that govern them with yourself, unifying and orienting yourself with the cosmos in the process.  The ritual is intended as an all-around maintenance ritual for regular use, and also helps to keep the ritual implements of an altar in good shape and charge.  This is intended for an altar setup such as the Table of Manifestation proposed by Frater Rufus Opus which I employ in my own practice.  The Table of Manifestation is an altar setup that represents the different parts of the manifested and manifesting world according to Agrippa’s Scale of Four.  The ritual can be modified to suit any altar that has representations of the four elements and seven planets.

My own Table of Manifestation is shown in the above picture.  I have the four Elemental Weapons (the Wand of Fire, the Sword of Air, the Cup of Water, and the Coin of Earth) with their respective ruling Angels (Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, and Auriel, represented by the four Tarot kings).  Around them I have talismans of each of the seven planets with their ruling Angels, arranged according to their element (Mars and the Sun for Fire, Venus and Jupiter for Air, Saturn and Mercury for Water, and the Moon for Earth).  Outside of that, to the east, I have a consecrated candle representing the Infinite Light.

Visualization is used throughout the ritual to bring the various talismans and weapons to life.  Wherever “N.” appears, say your own name (either the name you go by, your magical motto, whatever).  The names of the elements and planets are given four times: once in the person’s native or operational language (for me, that’s English), once in Latin, once in Hebrew, and once in Greek.  Although I suggest calling the ruling angelic king or archangel of a given force with their respective elemental ruler and prince or planetary intelligence(s) and spirit(s), feel free to add on any familiar spirits or other acquaintances you work with frequently to have them aligned with you as well.

Part I: Introduction, Centering, and Invocation

Clean or dust the altar, if necessary, and let the center of the altar (the focus of manifestation) remain empty.  Asperge yourself and the altar with holy water, if so desired.  Light the candle and incense, if any is desired; any incense used should be neutral and not related to any one element or planet, so frankincense or temple incense would be appropriate.  Perform a few breathing exercises and clear the mind.  Say whatever introductory prayers you find appropriate; I prefer the Prayer of Hermes Trismegistus, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Prayer of Joseph the Visionary.

Begin the ritual.

O God, author of all good things, I beseech you, strengthen me, your poor servant, that I may stand fast without fear through this dealing and work. Enlighten me in my dark understanding, I beseech you, o Lord, so that my spiritual eye may be opened to see and know the works of your hand.

Stand at your altar facing the east.  Visualize the altar and yourself at the center of the cosmos while extending your hands outward and vibrating the name IAO.  Raise your right hand above your altar to the sky, and let your left hand hover face down over the center of the altar.

I am N., a child of Mankind.  I am born in your image, o God, and as you are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, so too am I the ruler of my world.  I beseech you, o Lord, to enable me to see my world clearly, that I understand it, my place in it, and the forces within it.  Grant me the power of conjuring the forces at work in my world and their spirits, that I may work with them and bring my self, tools, and world into balance, harmony, and unity with the cosmos and you, o Lord.  Amen.

Part II: Calling Upon the Forces of the Cosmos

Part III: Aligning and Attaining Union with the Cosmos

Raise your right hand above your altar to the sky, and let your left hand hover face down over the center of the altar.

All you spirits of the four elements and seven planets, hear me!  I, N., have called you here.  See this altar with your tools, anchors, and talismans, and see how they are balanced!  So too quicken and empower these things with your forces, bring your forces here and into my life, and weigh your forces into balance.  Grant me the blessing of knowing your forces as I am able to know, and expand my awareness and knowledge of them.  Remove from me all defilement, all impurity, all deficiency, and all excess of your forces.  Wash me, cleanse me, and fill me with the forces of all the elements and all the planets, that I may come to know and wield them and bring them to manifestation in the world.

Visualize a white light emanate from the candle and wash over and subsume the entire sacred space including yourself, with the sacred space expanding to include the entire cosmos and everything in it.

O God, bring me into balance, harmony, and unity with your will and all the forces of the elements and planets now and at all times, here and in all places.  Align my body, my soul, my spirit, and my mind as is proper and good for me, o Lord, that I may thereby attain union with the cosmos, direction from the cosmos, and understanding of the cosmos.  Amen.

Part IV: Closing

Extend your hands towards the altar, palms upward.

All you spirits gathered, I thank you for your presence.  You have come as I have called, and aided me as I have asked.  As you have come in peace, so now go in power.  As you have come in the name of the ever-blessed and righteous Trinity, so now go in this same name, and return to me when I call you in his name to whom every knee bows down.  Farewell, you great and mighty spirits!  Let peace be between us now and forever for the sake of the Logos.

To God the father, eternal spirit, fountain of light, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be all honor and glory, world without end.  Amen.

Extend your hands outward and vibrate the name IAO.  Visualize the light from the candle, the weapons, and talismans radiate into the world through you and out from the circle, starting with the candle, the talismans from Saturn to the Moon, and the weapons from the Wand to the Coin.  Put out the candle.
